I sewed this up over 2 months ago and said I was going to blog about it back then, and here I am now, finally getting to it!
I find it hilarious, that even though the armholes are too big on this dress, the only thing we ever hear when Millie wears this dress (which is ALL THE TIME) is a crazy amount of complements! Not a single person has ever noticed or thought it was too big. All they see is the positive. Which makes ME mostly see the positive in this, where I used to only see the armpits, lol!
This has become one of her favorite dresses to wear and it has been put on heavy rotation. The only other dress that she wears just as often, oddly enough, is the other Ileana dress! It probably has something to do with the twirl factor in the full circle skirt. Seriously. this is a winning pattern.
The fabric was some super bright floral that Millie picked out at Joannes. I wasn’t a huge fan at first, but I was like OKAY fine, your dress, your fabric.. But seriously, this girl has a great eye. The craziness looks fantastic on her! And I really like the contrast with that white collar. Speaking of that collar, how CUTE and different is that? It is one of the millions of different options that comes with the pattern. I also put a little flower detail at the hem of her dress (also in the pattern) for a fun little pop.
This dress really is a fantastic conversation piece, when we were in Colorado last month, Millie wore it the day we rode the cog wheel train up Pike’s Peak. The whole way down, the woman next to me and I got into a really nice long conversation about sewing and making your own clothes, she loved Millie’s dress and told me she thought it was a Lilly Pulitzer (I had to look her up) and that she would have spent a ton of money on a dress like that. It was such a wonderful conversation (and an extremely awesome way to distract me from my terrible altitude sickness!! I DO NOT recommend the trip to the top of Pike’s Peak!)
And can we talk about Millie for a second? She is turning into SUCH a model! Her poses are KILLING me! She is so serious now, and the things she does, the way she moves and her ideas for posing are amazing. She could totally have a future in media, whether in front of or behind the camera.
This post has affiliate links for Compagnie M and I got this pattern free for testing purposes, but I would have paid full price because I love it so much. I’ve recommended it to my own sister, which should be the highest form of recommendation, right??
