Banyan Tunic

I have been trying to eke out some sewing time here and there, and this time I made the Figgy’s Banyan Tunic, which I’ve had the pattern for forever but never sewed. I know, I know, I’ve been on a Figgy’s pattern kick! I love even more than I thought I would!

I sewed up a size 4/5. The only change I made was to the sleeves. I took the sleeve pattern and with that, drafted a new sleeve with more of a flutter at the bottom. I wanted to to be more feminine than just a regular sleeve. This is the first time I’ve attempted something like this and I really love the effect! I think next time I’ll go even more fluttery :)

I plan on making a tutorial on how I did this, hopefully I’ll get to it this week :)

Shhh don’t tell anyone I sewed one of the sleeves on, wrong side facing out :/ I didn’t even notice until the photo shoot!! I decided whatever, no one would notice but me so I’ll keep it as is, ha!

The fabric was a SUPER cheap-o remnant from Hancock’s, I think I spent $2 on it. Maybe even less. SCORE!

Millie really likes it because it is a “shirt that is also a dress”. I really like it because STRIPES. Even Jake commented on how awesome it is! He really likes the color on her. Win, win, win!!

Of course, again, Millie was in no mood for a photo shoot.. I used Jake’s awesome camera thinking I’d get fantastic photos.. The quality is better than my phone, but the model didn’t want to cooperate! I’m going to have to start bribing her with lolly pops instead of blueberries! All she really wanted to do was sit inside and pout like this:

OH YEAH and notice her “earrings”? She is newly obsessed with wanting her ears to be pierced, which I don’t want to do until she is old enough to take care of them herself.. So she put stickers on her ears to pretend, lol!

Anyways, I need to get my sewing act together! Other important things keep popping up, like playing games and eating kid’s toes… I really want to participate in Project Run and Play again, which started this week. I have already started sewing my first project, hopefully when I send Millie off to school today, Quinn will let me finish it. *crossing fingers!*

  1. The earrings were the first thing
i noticed, lol. This is very cute, and I can not understand how she has grown so much in the past few weeks. She looks older! <3 Maybe it's the earrings?
